Wilfried Zaha has always been a player with plenty of pace and potential, but questions have lingered over his end product. This season, he has answered those questions more emphatically than ever before.
Zaha has scored six goals and made nine assists for Crystal Palace this season. Whenever the Eagles win – they have done so five times in their last six games – the 24-year-old is among the best players on the pitch. Even during the latter stages of Alan Pardew’s reign, when poor defending cost them points, Zaha stood out in the 3-3 draw at Hull and 5-4 loss at Swansea.
Retaining his usual pace and exuberance, Zaha has been more consistent this term. Capable of shooting with both feet and playing on either wing, he represents an enticing prospect for top seven clubs.
The ideal destination would be Tottenham Hotspur, who excel at developing hardworking English talent who have earned their stripes in the Football League. The ex-Manchester United man has the energy to fit in with Mauricio Pochettino’s high-pressing system if required, whilst also offering some extra width.
If there is one void in this current Spurs squad, it is a convincing wide man capable of attacking the byline on the outside. Christian Eriksen create in central areas, Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son like to find goalscoring positions while Moussa Sissoko is yet to convince.
Zaha is enjoying the best season of his career to date – now is the time for him to get a big move and Spurs could be the right club.
