League Two Tips: Blackpool to do double over Portsmouth?

bowyerHere are The Football Lab’s betting tips for Tuesday night’s League Two clashes.

For the acca

Mansfield Town sit atop of the League Two form table having won five of their last six games, drawing the other at rivals Notts County. Steve Evans has injected fresh positivity into the team, evidenced by a build-up play that shows more intent than Mansfield did in previous regimes. Talented, dynamic midfielder Benjamin Whiteman has been a beneficiary, continuing his fine form with two goals in a 4-0 win over Hartlepool.

That victory was the Stags’ third clean sheet in a row. They face an Accrington Stanley side that have failed to score in eight of their last 13 league games and Billy Kee, the man charged with leading their goal charts in pre-season, is out of form. An admittedly deserved 2-0 win over Notts County was Stanley’s only league victory in 2017. Mansfield to win at 23/20

Outside chance

Blackpool have picked up 13 points from seven games against League Two’s top six. While they recently drew close encounters with similarly-ranked sides in Colchester and Crawley, those results were followed up by a satisfying 4-1 win at Carlisle.

It was a fine, counter-attacking performance with four different goalscorers. Kyle Vassell was not among them but played a key role in the team’s build up play and will be key at Fratton Park. Only once since September have hosts Portsmouth won back-to-back games, such unreliability and inconsistency hampering their automatic promotion hopes.

There is technical quality in that team but sometimes they struggle to match the work ethic of their opponents and they lost 3-1 at Bloomfield Road in September. There is a section that want a change from manager Paul Cook and it seems possible that the pressure on him and the team could grow on Tuesday. Blackpool to win at 4/1
